Right after the wedding the BluePlate Misses and I went to lovely Rockaway Beach, Oregon for a short mini-moon (we’ll be flying off to sunny Mexico for the real thing this December).
We rented your classic cheesy beach house, with classic cheesy shell-encrusted furnishings and decor. However this beach house had a little something extra. In [...]

Shanghai Tunneled

Monday, June 11th, 2007

A couple of weekends ago we had the bright idea to checkout the Shanghai Tunnel tour in Portland.
This idea popped into our heads after a trip to Seattle, where we took the Seattle Underground tour (which was reasonably priced, had beer available, and was entertaining).

Incidentally, I’ve been buying the [...]

Twentieth Century Cocktail

Sunday, October 8th, 2006

1 1/2 ounce Gin
3/4 ounce Lillet
3/4 ounce Lemon Juice
1/2 ounce Crème de Cacao (white)

Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass.
This lovely cocktail came from a good friend who has started dating a good bartender…
A darn good arrangement if you ask me.

I’m a Frickin’ Genius

Friday, April 7th, 2006

I’m planning a cocktail party this weekend, and I wanted to make all the cocktails up in advance, so I don’t have to spend my party with a shaker instead of mingling and cracking wise.
Also, one’s ability to mix a cocktail greatly diminishes after one has consumed one or two (or four). Best not to [...]
